Abstract

This study chronicled the effort to restrict private schools to the use of Nigerian curriculum. It pre-sented the historical origin of private schools in Nigeria and provided insight into the types of curric-ulum they use other than the Nigerian curriculum and the probable reasons. Drawing from diverse experiences of the schools, the study suggested ways of restricting private schools to the Nigerian curriculum and yet not losing any global best practices in equipping the Nigerian students and for-eign nationals residing in Nigeria. This include among others; a deliberate review of the National Pol-icy on Education to include a clear policy on private schools’ implementation of the curriculum and the foreign ones, formation of directorates of private schools to handle private schools’ curriculum implementation and other matters.
